My name is Laurie Daly. I am a full-time faculty member at Yuba College Clearlake Campus, where I teach in the Early Childhood Education Department. I also teach Infant-Toddler Development for the degree completion program at Pacific Union College. I received my Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education from Pacific Union College, my Master’s of Education with emphasis in Early Childhood Education from Sonoma State University, and I have my Doctorate in Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education from Mills College. My dissertation research was conducted in Lake County California. The subject was titled “Aggressive Behavior in Preschool Children and Its Influences, Including Violent Television.” I have a heart for Godly, positive, fun children’s media.
I began teaching preschool when I was 19 years old and in my early 20’s, I became the founding preschool director at the only full-time permanent child care facility in Point Reyes, California. The name of the school is Papermill Creek Children’s Corner. Today, I am a behavioral consultant for my old school, which is now called PC3. I was certified as a Mentor teacher in Marin County in 1992 and I am currently certified in all 5 modules of WestEd’s Program for Infant Toddler Caregivers (PITC). My life study is child development and my passion and expertise is in early childhood education. My title is a “child development specialist” as well as “early childhood education college instructor.” What a mouthful!
I became a children’s pastor when I was in my late 20’s. I am a firm believer in women having the right to conceal their age, so I will not tell you how many years I have been teaching. You’ll just have to use your imagination. I am licensed pastor and my husband and I pastor a church in Middletown, California. Our church is called Jesus Christ Fellowship. How great is that Name? We love serving the Lord and ministering to the people He brings in our paths.
Moreover, I am a published author of a book, titled “Let’s Have Fun! An Interactive Approach to Children’s Church.” Recently, I just finished a preschool interactive circletime curriculum CD titled “Let’s Have Fun! An Interactive Approach to Circletime.” This CD is loaded with fun activities for children to engage in during circletime. I wish I had had this CD when I was teaching preschool. My husband, Jeff, and I have lived in Lake County for 12 years and love it here, even if the summers can be a little too warm. We have three Jack Russell Terriers named, Lambie, Dinky, and Nigh-nigh.
